MP4 or HD: which one should you download?
The standard Video (no watermark) is an H.264 MP4. It plays on every phone, computer, TV and messaging app, so it is the safe choice for sharing to WhatsApp or editing in CapCut.
HD video appears when TikTok keeps a higher-resolution copy, often 720p or better. TikTok encodes it in H.265 (HEVC), which looks sharper at a smaller size but may not play on older devices or some editing apps. If the HD file shows a black screen, use the standard MP4.
Why TikTok videos have a watermark
When you tap Save video in the TikTok app, TikTok burns its logo and the creator's @username into the picture. That copy can't be cleaned afterwards without cropping or blurring. SnapTik avoids the problem by downloading the original file TikTok uses for playback, which never had the watermark.
Downloading videos made with CapCut
Many TikTok videos are made with CapCut templates. Once they are posted on TikTok, they download like any other video – paste the TikTok link, not the CapCut link. Links that open the CapCut app itself aren't supported.
If the download doesn't work
- “This video is private” – only public videos can be downloaded.
- “Deleted or not available” – the creator removed the video, or it isn't shown in your region.
- Nothing happens on iPhone – open SnapTik in Safari rather than inside the TikTok or Instagram in-app browser.
- The HD file won't play – your device can't decode H.265; download the standard MP4 instead.

Can I download TikTok videos in 1080p?
